AI READY: CONFIDENT LEADERSHIP

The most challenging thing about starting with AI might not be the tools. It could be getting everyone aligned and on the same page.

Just like being stranded on an island: one person’s ready to lash together a raft, another wants to wait it out, and while the debate drags on, the coconuts are running out.

If you see your team in that deserted island story, you’re in good company.

These are the four challenges I see most often when leaders are trying to get moving with AI.

Endless debate. No alignment.

On one side you’ve got people dreaming about what AI can do. And on the other you’ve got people digging their heels in, hoping it all blows over.

The knowledge gaps are just as wide - from early adopters getting stuck in, to those who don’t know where to start.

You’re stuck in the middle, trying to bring everyone with you.

Paralysis from uncertainty.

You’ve led through uncertainty before - that’s not new. But AI is a whole different beast.

The hype is deafening, the warnings are just as loud, and it’s near impossible to cut through the noise. Tech says to speed up and risk says to slow down.

So the safest move feels like… no move at all. Which is exactly how not to succeed.

Wasted energy on the wrong things.

AI is already being used by your people - if not at work, then at home. So while leaders are still asking “where do we start?”, the starting line has already been crossed.

That gap shows up fast: scattered experiments, shadow tools creeping in, and wasted licences when the official rollout finally hits. It looks like activity, but it’s not progress.

Fear, noise, and hype.

I know you don’t want to feel like AI is running the show. You want to lead well, have real impact, and make smart calls - without getting lost in the swirl of hype, opinions, and half-truths.

But underneath it all, there’s also fear: fear of wasting money, fear of reputational damage if you back the wrong call, and fear of what AI might do to your culture if trust or fairness take a hit.

"The audience roared with laughter, nodded with insights and leaned in to know more when she shared her well balanced, smart (and relatable AF) lessons on navigating workplaces in the changing face of AI. Belinda ABSOLUTELY knows how to bring the warmth, fun, humour and real talk to an audience.”- Julie M

Three traps worth watching for

Trap 1: Rushing without alignment

Trying to set (or approve) strategy without a baseline of shared understanding. Fear and hype end up running the show.

Before you even touch strategy, ask your team this question:
“What do we actually mean by AI in our business right now?”
If you get five different answers, you’re not aligned - and you’re not ready for the next step.

Trap 2: Stalling while knowledge gaps widen

Some people are already experimenting, others don’t know where to start - and the gaps between them get wider every week.

Run a quick check-in: “Where are we already using AI - officially or unofficially?” If you don’t know, the gaps are growing under your nose.

Trap 3: Mistaking activity for progress

Different parts of the business start making their own AI moves - pilots here, experiments there, reports piling up. From a distance it looks like momentum. But without alignment, it’s just scattered effort, wasted spend, and no clear direction.

Put this on the table: “Which of these activities are actually linked to our current strategic priorities?” If you can’t draw the line clearly, you’ve got activity, not progress.

These traps show up everywhere right now. The leaders who break out of them aren’t the ones with the most tools or the flashiest strategy - they’re the ones who find alignment early and make smart, confident calls together.

That’s what AI Ready: Confident Leadership is designed to help you do.

AI Ready:

Confident Leadership

Alignment before investment.

Strategy before spend.

Every day you spend stuck on the island is another day of wasted energy, wasted budget, and lost momentum. With a shared baseline and clear priorities, your leadership team can move forward with confidence - before you commit to big investments. That’s right.

It’s easier to align now than unwind later. Reversing decisions can be a nightmare.

When early AI activity runs without alignment:

  • Experiments become precedent, no matter how sloppy they were

  • Informal behaviour becomes your culture

  • Risk tolerance gets set by default, or imagination

  • The loudest voice shapes direction

  • Strategy gets retrofitted instead of designed

That gets expensive. This is not about “the tools”. It’s about leadership under emerging pressure.

Let’s get you sorted

In one focused day, or two half days if that’s your thing, your leadership team will align on:

  • What AI means for your business

  • Your strategic objectives

  • Your risk appetite

  • Clear guardrails

  • Your first 3–5 priority initiatives

  • What you are deliberately not doing

You’ll leave with:

  • A shared AI position statement

  • An agreed risk appetite spectrum

  • Named ownership

  • Governance guardrails

  • A 90-day focus plan

So you can move forward deliberately - not reactively.

Here’s how it works:

To kick off I’ll give you some prep to do. It gives you a chance to step back and look at what’s most important to you, and where the work is. This alone will start some important conversations.

Then we’ll have a 30 minute call to review the prep and align exactly what we’re going to do on our day together. While we’re looking at AI-daptive leadership and alignment, we don’t do this in isolation. We’re looking to create it in the context of your entire business.

During our day together we’ll document the key alignment points, agreements and actions. You’ll get a copy of this to use as your playbook and for accountability.

We’ll get your 30 and 90 day check-ins scheduled to help you stay on track. During that time I’m here for you.

This is a partnership. I know you’re serious about taking care of your business. We’ll work hard, but with a heap of laughs along the way.

This programme is for

Leadership teams of 3 -10 people, in small to medium sized businesses at the early AI-ready stage who want to move - but want to move wisely.

I run a limited number of these sessions each quarter.

Investment: $11,500

Risk Free

These are meaty topics, and we’re going to get them done.

  • Before the day I’ll talk with key people to understand where you’re at, and what’s most important for you

  • I’m not leaving until we achieve our objectives. If that takes longer than a day then I’m there for it

  • You’ll get your personalised playbook within 2 business days

  • The 30 and 90 day check-in will keep you on track and help with any burning issues that pop up, things change and we can work with that

  • I work with a collection of very clever AI technical experts that I can introduce you to for your specific needs and AI training

The intent is that you leave the day with real clarity about how AI is going to work for you and have very specific actions that will help you progress this.

If you’re interested, flick me a message and let’s have a chat.

“…a great mixture of laughter, confronting ideas, hard but useful conversations, and new ideas to tease out with the team.”

“I've worked with Belinda for personal coaching earlier in my career, so when an opportunity arose to work with her again with my lead team I jumped on it.

We had a great time on the day with a great mixture of laughter, confronting ideas, hard but useful conversations, and new ideas to tease out with the team.

And of course, true to style, the follow-up afterwards was great, with a lot of additional material, exercises and techniques shared that we'd only had time to mention in passing on the day. It was a great day, and we're still talking about it 3 weeks on!”
